CTRA Update, June 2010
I thought it was timely that I send out an update, can't believe we are in the midst of July now, only a few months of these dreary days to go and we can get back to some sunshine - hopefully!!!!!!
Not much has been happening over the past few months, but we did enjoy a function at Ferrymead Golf for our End of Season function. I hope everyone enjoyed their night out, the night seemed to run well.
I would like to thank everyone for coming and supporting us on the night and a huge congratulations to all of our awards winners. Below is a list of our referees who were presented with awards on this night

A huge thank you to the three referees who went and did the games on Sunday at Papanui High School. They were Tim McLintock, Chris Baker and Craig Gray.
For those of you who have been wondering what I have been up to over these Winter months, last Tuesday I attended a Touch Canterbury Board meeting and from that Darryl, Ngaire and I had a referees meeting on Thursday night, planning in anticpation for the coming season. Watch this space as there are some exciting things to come for us this season, both from referees, and from a coachig point of view.
On that note, can I please have email interest of all referees wishing to attend a Coaching Course for Level One and Level Two Coaches this year. Many of you may be aware, but there is a Provincial / Regional Directors meeting in Wellington at the end of August. Both Adrian and I will be attending this meeting.
For our senior referees who were involved in a memo sent to Touch NZ - I still have not received any reply regarding any of these queries. Maybe we will get some answers out of the meeting in August. In the meantime, if you have any questions please let me know.
Until next time ..........

Ref’s Referee Award
This award is given out and voted for by you. So now it is your opportunity to vote on your referee of the year. Over the past we have looked for certain criteria when thinking of whom to vote for.
Your vote should be given to the person who you believe deserves acknowledgement for work done throughout our modules, coaching, assessments, refereeing, encouragement, but it doesn’t stop there. Someone who is seen at tournaments and modules and participating in our sport.
Voting for this will close on Sunday 4 April 2010. Please email me through your votes and I will start collating them.
Any queries about the above please let me know.

CTRA Update. 8 March
Wow, what a week we have just encounted at touch. Absolutely outstanding, but too hot for touch, weather, and the only rain we had was during the night or about 5 minutes after the mens opens final.
Canterbury teams and players did extremely well as a province, 5 of the 9 referees who attended the masters nationals were rewarded with nationals finals, and 4 of the 12 referees who attended the opens nationals were awarded with nationals finals. A huge congratulations to everyone on their achievements and finals appointments, and hopefully those who attended and didn’t achieve finals, still managed to achieve a personal goal, or at the very least enjoy the tournaments presented to us.
As mentioned above the weather was extremely hot, and was making it extremely hard to run in, as soon as you exited the door of the referees room, you had beads of sweat before even reaching the field. The grounds left a lot left to be desired, however I commend the referee group for just digging in and getting on with the job at hand. I believe the Canterbury contingent of referees represented our province to a very high standard. A huge congratulations to all of you.
From memory, Canterbury teams won the Mens 30’s Grade, made the final in the womens 30’s, won the Mixed Open and Men’s Open grades.
Congratulations to the following referees who achieved nationals finals and the following rankings:
